What we fact-check
We examine claims that may materially affect readers, including viral messages, government-service notices, financial or consumer claims, deadlines, eligibility statements, and claims about AI or digital products.
Verification process
- Define the precise claim and identify its source.
- Check the most relevant primary evidence, including official notifications, regulator circulars, government portals, public records, and official product documentation.
- Confirm dates, scope, exceptions, and whether a cited rule is current.
- Use reputable secondary reporting or qualified expertise when additional context is needed.
- Record the evidence supporting the conclusion and link to sources readers can inspect.
Conclusions and presentation
Fact-check headlines and summaries must reflect the evidence without exaggeration. We explain what is known, what remains uncertain, who may be affected, and what readers should verify or do next. Images, screenshots, and quotations are checked in context where relevant.
Corrections and updates
If new evidence changes a conclusion or reveals a material error, we update the article promptly and add a clear correction or update note. Readers may submit evidence to meet@checkmatter.in.
